Need to find phone owner: Court | Kochi News

KOCHI: The Ernakulam The court of additional special sessions hearing the actor’s rape case on Saturday made an observation regarding the need for a proper investigation to find the owner of the Vivo phone with which the memory card containing the visuals of the crime was accessed.
During Saturday’s proceedings, the court inquired about the ownership of the phone and the location of its tower. The court also pointed out that the memory card was handled exclusively by the officials concerned and that it would be inappropriate to place anyone in the shadow of a doubt, until there is clarification on the allegedly changing the hash value of the memory card.
The judge said the court refused to see the visuals even when an investigator suggested they see them. The court also pointed out that the visuals should only be verified as part of the trial in the case.
The court also asked about plans for concluding further investigation.
The court will continue hearing the case from next Tuesday.
The prosecution and investigation team had approached the High Court on Wednesday asking for a further three weeks to complete the further investigation into the case in view of the forensic report that the hash value of the memory card containing the visuals of the crime had changed several times.
On Friday, the HC had ordered the production of the first cloned copy and forensic image of the memory card containing the visuals of the crime in a sealed sleeve.
The court ordered the investigator to collect them from Thiruvananthapuram Forensic Laboratory and present them to the court by Monday morning.
