Sony unveils a great lineup of free PS Plus games for June

Sony unveiled June’s free PlayStation Plus games on Wednesday, and it’s a pretty good lineup heading to PS4 and PS5 next Tuesday.

Well, maybe not a great lineup overall, but it includes one really great game and two reasonably decent games and that’s all you can really ask for when it comes to PS Plus in any given month.

The very good game is the 2018 God of the war reboot, a game that took Kratos’ adventures to new graphical and emotional heights while savagely overhauling combat and cameras. New God of the war is closer and personal in just about every unfathomable way, and it works surprisingly well, thanks in large part to the stellar performances of Kratos actor Christopher Judge and Atreus actor Sunny Suljic with the rest of the cast. phenomenal distribution.

The less arcade-like, in-camera combat, plus some of the PS4’s best graphics, make this a must-have addition to the PlayStation lineup (although it’s also pretty awesome on PC).

The other two free games are ones that I haven’t had a chance to play, so I can’t really vouch for or against them, although both have Metacritic scores in the 60s range, which is not great. They are:

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker

The PlayStation announcement describes this game as follows: “The Naruto franchise is going 4 vs 4, with team-based gameplay with 8 ninjas fighting simultaneously. Players cooperate in teams of four to compete against other teams online. Graphically, Shinobi Striker is also built from the ground up in an all new graphical style. Lead your team and battle online to see who the best ninjas are.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl | PS4/PS5

“Fight as your favorite Nickelodeon characters in explosive platform battles. With a powerful cast of heroes from across the Nickelodeon universe, take on stars from SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Loud House , Danny Phantom, Aaahh!!! Real monsters, The Wild Thornberrys, Hey Arnold!, Rugrats and more to determine ultimate animation dominance. With unique movesets and attacks inspired by their personalities, each character has an individual style of play allowing for endless action for Nickelodeon’s legion of fans.”

These seem timely given the hype surrounding Warner Bros. next brawler. MultiVersus this summer, a Smash Bros. clone that features all your favorite Warner Bros characters, from Scooby Doo to Harley Quinn.

In any case, these three games will be available for download next Tuesday, June 7, on PS4 and PS5. The new tiered PS Plus is also coming this month. You can read more about it here.
